How to Add Rule-Based Images to Manago AI

One image slot in your Manago AI email, many possible images: Sendtric picks the right one at open time from rules on contact data, date, time or device.

Let every Manago AI email choose its own image at the moment it's opened.

Rule-based images let you upload several versions of an image and decide when each one shows. Sendtric checks your rules every time the email is opened, top to bottom, and serves the first image that matches.

Email Design Studio has its own conditional content, added under Sections. A rule-based image works differently: it picks its image each time the email is opened, so it can react to the day, the hour or the device the contact is reading on, and it takes up a single slot in the layout.

What you can do with rule-based images in Manago AI

  • Lunch and dinner offers: one image before 3 pm and another after, using a Time condition in your contacts' time zone.
  • Weekend versus weekday creative: a relaxed weekend image on Saturday and Sunday, a quick-shop banner the rest of the week.
  • Local store images: match $city$ against your store cities so contacts in each city see their nearest shop.
  • An image that changes after a deadline: swap "Sale ends Friday" for "New arrivals" once the date has passed, without resending.

Free plans get 2 images per widget and Micro gets 4 plus a fallback image. Date, day and time rules need Standard (10 images), and device and number rules need Power, which has no image limit. Text, email client and operating system rules work on every plan.

How to add a rule-based image to Manago AI

Step 1: Upload your images

In Sendtric, go to Rule-based Images, click Create New and use Add Image for each version. Add them in priority order, because the first image whose rules match is the one that shows.

Step 2: Set the conditions

Click Update Conditions on each image. Choose Match all conditions (AND) or Match any condition (OR), then add conditions. For contact data, pick Merge Tag: Text and enter the value to compare, for example "Warszawa" for the city rule. An image with no conditions is never shown, so give every image at least one.

Step 3: Add a fallback and copy the code

Add a Fallback Image for contacts who match none of the rules, click Save and then Copy code. Each Merge Tag condition adds a parameter like city={{city}} to the image URL.

Step 4: Swap in the Manago AI placeholder

Replace the {{city}} part with Manago AI's placeholder, so the parameter reads city=$city$. Do the same for any other merge-tag condition, using the placeholder for that contact detail.

Step 5: Paste into HTML content and test

In Email Design Studio, drag HTML content from Widgets > Basic into the email, click the placeholder code in its Content section and paste. Send tests to contacts in different cities, or use Sendtric's Simulate preview to check date, time and device rules without sending.

Text rules ignore capitals, placeholders don't

Sendtric's text conditions aren't case sensitive, so "warszawa" matches "Warszawa". Manago AI's placeholders are, so the placeholder in the URL must be typed exactly as $city$.

Device rules and image proxies

Device, operating system and email client rules read information from the email app. Apps that load images through a proxy, like Gmail, may report every open as desktop. If the right image really matters, base the rule on contact data instead. Setting display conditions explains each rule type.

Manago AI Rule-Based Images FAQ

What's the difference between this and Manago AI's conditional content?

Conditional content is part of Manago AI's email layout. A rule-based image is a single image slot that Sendtric fills each time the email is opened, so it can react to the time and day of the open as well as to contact data.

What does a contact see if no rule matches?

Your fallback image. Without a fallback, Sendtric shows an invisible 1x1 image, so nothing appears in that spot.

Can I change the rules after the email is sent?

Yes. Saving the widget in Sendtric changes which image shows on the next open, including in emails already delivered.

Can one of the images be a countdown timer?

Yes. When you add an image, you can pick a timer, a personalized image or a weather widget from your Sendtric library instead of an uploaded file.

Which time zone do date and time rules use?

The one you choose on each condition. You can also pass a time zone per contact with a merge tag, using values like Europe/Warsaw.
